SUBJECT: Purchase of 2004 Junior Lifeguard Program Uniforms
RECOMMENDATION:
Award the 2004 Junior Lifeguard Program Uniform contract to Hawaiian Island
Creations for the total cost of $144,977.63 (including tax).
BACKGROUND:
Ten suppliers were invited to participate in the bid process for the 2004 Junior Lifeguard
uniform contract. Four vendors replied with bids ranging from $134,550.00 to
$102,800.00 (excluding sales tax), but only two were considered as acceptable
companies. A careful review process was then implemented where we looked at sample
uniforms, the quote, a reference check, and past performance dealing with the City and
our program.
Because they were the only vendor to meet all of the requested uniform specifications,
Hawaiian Island Creations has received the recommendation as the sole provider of this
year's program uniform. They were the vendor selected as the 2003 provider and we
were pleased with the quality and service they gave us. Hawaiian Island Creations
provided a fresh, high quality product that stood up to the every day use by our
participants and earned accolades from their parents.
Funding Availabilitv:
Self funded through Junior Lifeguard Program registration fees.
