SUBJECT: Resolution to Expand the Membership of the City Centennial 2006
Committee
ISSUE
Does the City Council wish to expand the membership of the City Centennial 2006 Committee?
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt a resolution expanding the membership of the Centennial Committee to include the
Directors of the Recreation & Senior Services Department and the Library Services Department;
a member from the Newport Harbor Chamber of Commerce, the Newport Beach Conference &
Visitors Bureau, the Nautical Museum, and seven citizens.
• DISCUSSION
On January 27, 2004, City Council adopted Resolution 2004 -11 creating the City Centennial
2006 Committee with Council Member Webb as Chair, and Mayor Pro Tern Adams and Council
Member Bromberg as members with a sunset date of January 30, 2007
At the March 9, 2004 City Council meeting, Council Member Webb stated that the Centennial
Committee had met to discuss its membership and goals and asked that the expansion of the
Committee be placed on the March 23, 2004 agenda with citizen appointments scheduled for
the meeting of April 13, 2004

RESOLUTION NO. 2004 -
A RESOLUTION OF THE NEWPORT BEACH CITY COUNCIL
EXPANDING THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE
CITY CENTENNIAL 2006 COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, Resolution 2004 -11 stated that the Committee shall consist of three Council
Members appointed by the Mayor and those community member positions recommended to
Council and approved by Council to ensure that the centennial planning and celebrations are
created and supported by the community;
WHEREAS, the Chair of the Committee has asked that the committee be expanded;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the committee will include the Directors of
the Recreation & Senior Services Department and the Library Services Department; a member
from the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce, the Newport Beach Conference & Visitors
Bureau, the Nautical Museum, and seven citizens.
