SUBJECT: BUDGET AMENDMENT TO ACCEPT A CHECK FROM THE
NEWPORT BEACH LIBRARY FOUNDATION AND APPROPRIATE
FUNDS TO MAINTENANCE & OPERATIONS BUDGET ACCOUNTS
AND REVENUE ACCOUNTS FOR FY 2003104.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve a Budget Amendment in the amount of $9,350.
• DISCUSSION:
A check from the Newport Beach Public Library Foundation in the amount of $9,350,
requested by the Library Staff through the annual wish list, has been received and
deposited into revenue accounts 4010 -5901, 450 -5901 and 450 -5919. A facsimile of
the original check will be presented to City Council on March 23.
In response to the wishes of the donors, this check of $9,350 is to be distributed to
support specific programs /services of the Newport Beach Public Library. The donation
of $1,250 will be used to improve Library Services through purchase of audio books, a
form of literature that is heavily used in our community. Satisfied customers donated
$100 for use at the Balboa Branch Library and $2,000 to the growing Literacy program.
Robert Nichols and the Weingart Foundation donated the $1,000 and $5,000
respectively for the New Mariners Library. The Weingart Foundation donation is
specifically earmarked for the computers in the homework center.
