SUBJECT: Appointment of Acting City Attorney Effective August 14, 2004
ISSUE:
With Bob Burnham's retirement effective August 14, 2004, how does the City Council
want to fill the position?
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council appoint Assistant City Attorney Robin Clauson to be Acting City Attorney
until the position is filled.
DISCUSSION:
Background:
The City Attorney's position is one of three positions within the organization that work
directly for the City Council — the City Clerk and City Manager being the other two. City
Attorney Bob Burnham's retirement is effective August 141h. A recruitment for the
position has begun headed by Bob Murray and Associates of Roseville. The
recruitment process is expected to take three months. Assistant City Attorney Robin
Clauson is willing to serve as Acting City Attorney until the position is filled. Ms.
Clauson is well respected within and outside the organization and will do an excellent
job in the Acting City Attorney role.
