SUBJECT: Appointments to Fill Vacancies Created by the Appointment of Ed
Selich to the City Council
RECOMMENDATION:
Confirm the Mayor's appointment of a Planning Commission representative and the
Chair of the Economic Development Committee (EDC); and the appointment of a
Planning Commissioner to the Local Coastal Program Certification Committee.
DISCUSSION:
The Resolution establishing EDC provides that the membership shall include a Planning
Commissioner, appointed by the Mayor. Council Member Selich held that position until
his appointment to the City Council, and this vacancy needs to be filled.
The Resolution also provides that the Mayor shall name the Chair of EDC from the list
of members. Since Council Member Selich served as the EDC Chair, this position also
needs to be filled.
The Resolution establishing the Local Coastal Program Certification Committee
provides that the membership shall include three Planning Commissioners appointed by
the Mayor. Council Member Selich held one of those positions until his appointment to
the City Council, and this vacancy needs to be filled.
