SUBJECT: ADOPT A RESOLUTION RESTRICTING THE PARKING OF VEHICLES
(EXCLUDING BUSES) ADJACENT TO 1601 16T" STREET
Adopt a Resolution restricting parking, excluding buses, along 16`h Street between the
hours of 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, adjacent to the
Environmental Nature Center (ENC) at 1601 16th Street.
DISCUSSION:
In late June, the ENC is planning to begin renovations to its facility. Construction is
scheduled to last nine months. During this time, the ENC will continue to host students
and visitors to this site. Buses are not able to enter the site during the construction
period. Therefore, the ENC has requested a bus parkin q� zone be provided on the
south side of 16'h Street, adjacent to its property at 1601 16t Street.
The proposed segment would be approximately 100 feet in length to the east of the
driveway. This area is currently unrestricted parking and the impact to on street parking
should be minimal as the parking will only be restricted on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to
2:30 p.m. The new bus parking zone would create designated parking for two buses as
shown in the attached exhibit.
Once construction is complete, the parking restrictions will be removed through another
resolution.
Environmental Review:
Staff determined that the project is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act
(CEQA) pursuant to Section 15378 of the Guidelines. The action is not considered to be
a project as defined by CEQA.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH RESTRICTING THE PARKING OF
VEHICLES (EXCLUDING BUSES) ADJACENT TO 1601
16'" STREET BETWEEN 8:30 A.M. AND 2:30 P.M.,
MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY
WHEREAS, Section 12.44.150 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code
provides, among other things, that when authorized signs are in place giving notice
thereof, standing or parking of vehicles shall be prohibited for designated days of the
week and exact hours of the day thereof as the City Council shall designate by
Resolution; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to restrict the parking of vehicles, excluding
busses as follows:
1. South side of 16th Street — from 20 feet east of the driveway at
1601 16th Street, easterly, to 120 feet for approximately
100 feet in length.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach that the parking of vehicles, excluding buses, shall be restricted between
the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, on the street segment
herein designated.
