Box 1768 Newport Beach, CA 92658 RE: Sober Living y The Sea Use Permit No. 2005 -031) Dear Mayor Webb: I am writing this letter on behalf of my client, Sober Living By The Sea, with reference to the appeal of Use Permit No. 2005 -031 ( "CUP ") currently pending for hearing before the City Council at their meeting on August 22, 2006. The City has made a determination that conducting large group meetings at the Sober Living By The Sea facilities at 2811 Villa Way in the Cannery Village, is classified as a "social club" and therefore requires a use permit. Meetings have been held with City staff to develop a plan to modify the operational characteristics of the Sober Living By The Sea facilities at 2811 Villa Way to possibly eliminate the use permit requirement. In order to allow time to further work out the details of the plan, I am respectfully requesting that the hearing on the appeal of Use Permit No. 2005 -0311 be continued to the September 26, 2006 meeting of the City Council.
