SUBJECT: Appointments to the Economic Development Committee
RECOMMENDATION:
Transfer incumbent EDC member Jim Donnell to fill the vacancy representing Fashion
Island /Newport Center and appoint Jeffrey Cole to fill the At -Large vacancy.
DISCUSSION:
The resignation of Danielle Sim, following her departure from The Irvine Company, left
vacant the position representing Fashion Island /Newport Center. Jim Donnell, a current
member of the EDC, has ably represented that area in the past and would enjoy doing
so again. The EDC recommends transferring him to that slot.
His transfer leaves open an At -Large position for which the EDC is recommending
Jeffery Cole. Mr. Cole is a former Planning Commissioner. His educational and
professional experience is in commercial real estate. Mr. Cole has lived in Newport
Beach for seventeen years and been active in various civic and community groups for
more than a decade. The EDC reviewed his application on October 15, 2008 and
unanimously recommend appointing him.
