SUBJECT: CHARTER UPDATE COMMIISSION: APPOINTMENT OF
AD HOC COUNCIL SUBCOMMITTEE TO REVIEW APPLICATIONS
ISSUE:
Should Mayor Curry, Council Member Webb, and Council Member Selich be appointed to
the ad hoc Council subcommittee to make recommendations as to which citizen's should
be appointed to the Charter Update Commission?
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the Mayor's appointment of Mayor Curry, Council Member Webb, and Council
Member Selich to the ad hoc subcommittee to review the Charter Update Commission
applications, interview applicants, and make recommendations at the January 26, 2010
meeting as to which citizens should be appointed to the Charter Update Commission.
DISCUSSION:
Advisement of available positions on the Charter Update Commission was published on
December 12. The application period for the seven seats on the Commission closed at
4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2010. The Mayor has recommended appointment of
himself, Council Member Webb, and Council Member Selich as an ad hoc subcommittee
of Council to review the applications, interview the candidates as needed, and make
recommendations to the Council for appointment at the January 26, 2010 meeting.
Environmental Review
This action is not a project under CEQA.
Public Notice
Notice has been given consistent with the Ralph M. Brown Act. No other public notice
is required by this item.
Alternatives
The Council can approve the appointments recommended by the Mayor or make
alternative recommendations for appointment.
CONCLUSION
Please take action to appoint the ad hoc subcommittee to perform this task.
