SUBJECT: CITY COUNCIL'S CALENDAR FOR 2010
ISSUE:
What should be the Council's regular meeting schedule for 2010?
Adopt Resolution 2010 -_ relating to the City Council's 2010 calendar.
DISCUSSION:
The City's Charter reads in part as follows:
Section 407. Regular Meetings.
The City Council shall hold regular meetings at least twice each month at such times
as it shall fix by ordinance or resolution and may adjourn or re- adjourn any regular
meeting to a date and hour certain which shall be specified in the order of adjournment
and when so adjourned each adjourned meeting shall be a regular meeting for all
purposes. If the hour to which a meeting is adjourned is not stated in the order of
adjournment such meetings shall be held at the hour for holding regular meetings. If at
any time any regular meeting falls on a holiday such regular meeting shall be held on
the next business day.
Mayor Curry has asked that the City Council fix the meeting schedule for Calendar Year 2010
early in the year in order to accommodate the planned Sister Cities trip to Antibes, France in
July 2010 (during Bastille Day). As such, the recommendation is to adopt the following meeting
schedule for 2010:
Council Meeting Dates:
• January 12 and 26
• February 9 and 23
• March 9 and 23
• April 13 and 27
• May 11 and 25

• June 8 and 22
• July 6 and 27 (NOTE: July 6 is one week early)
• August 10 (NOTE: The August 24 meeting is cancelled)
• September 14 and 28
• October 12 and 26
• November 9 and 23
• December 14 (NOTE: The December 28 meeting is cancelled)
The attached Resolution would memorialize this regular meeting schedule for 2010 from this
point forward.

RESOLUTION 2010-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH RELATING TO ITS
REGULAR MEETING SCHEDULE FOR 2010
WHEREAS, Section 407 of the City of Newport Beach's City Charter directs that the City
hold regular meetings at least twice each month; and
WHEREAS, the Charter also directs that the times and dates of the meeting be set by
Ordinance or Resolution; and
WHEREAS, planning for the 2010 Calendar Year obligates the City to adopt a 2010
Calendar early in the year; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach that it hereby adopts the
following schedule for its regular meetings in Calendar Year 2010:
REGULAR COUNCIL MEETINGS — 2010
• January 12 and 26
• February 9 and 23
• March 9 and 23
• April 13 and 27
• May 11 and 25
• June 8 and 22
• July 6 and 27
• August 10
• September 14 and 28
• October 12 and 26
• November 9 and 23
• December 14
