HomeMy WebLinkAbout16 - Scott Air Pack Equipment & PartsCITY OF NEWPORT BEACH CITY COUNCIL STAFF REPORT Agenda Item No. 16 April 14, 2009 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: Fire Department Steve Lewis, 644 -3101, slewis @nbfd.net SUBJECT: Purchase of Scott Air Pack Equipment and Parts RECOMMENDATION: Award the purchase of Scott Air Pack Equipment and Parts to Allstar Fire Equipment, Inc. for the total cost of $54,242.18. 3aTy:(t13�1�1:1�>F On November 25, 2008, City Council accepted $208,946 in Urban Areas Security Initiative (UASI) Grant funds to purchase equipment to establish a medium Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) capability in Newport Beach and the region. The equipment inventory requires six self- contained breathing apparatus, extra bottles, mobile air cart, masks, air hose and miscellaneous support parts. City of Newport Beach Purchasing requested bids from three vendors. The vendors were OPR Safety, Fischer Safety and Allstar Fire Equipment, Inc. OPR Safety was non - responsive on the request. Fischer Safety was considered non- responsive when their bid was returned missing multiple items that were requested. Fischer Safety Equipment's bid was $2000 lower than Allstar's. If Fischer Safety would have included the missing items, their bid would been higher than Allstar's bid. Funding Availability: Funds will come from existing UASI Grant funds.
