Home My WebLink About13 - EQAC AppointmentCITY OF NEWPORT BEACH CITY COUNCIL STAFF REPORT Agenda Item No. 13 June 23, 2009 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: City Manager's Office Sharon Wood, Assistant City Manager 949 - 644 -3222, swood @city.newport- beach.ca.us SUBJECT: Appointment of Jay Myers to Environmental Quality Affairs Committee (EQAC) RECOMMENDATION: Approve EQAC's recommendation to appoint Jay Myers to a community association position on the Committee. DISCUSSION: The Resolution establishing EQAC provides that the Committee membership will include four members who are active in homeowners or community associations or other civic or community groups. The community association members are to be appointed by the City Council from recommendations made by the Committee. There is currently one vacancy in the community association membership category, resulting from the expiration of Barry Allen's term in February. Jay Myers, whose application is attached, has been a member of the Belcourt Master Association board of directors since 2008. EQAC reviewed Mr. Myers application at their meeting of June 15, 2009, and recommended that City Council appoint him to the Committee.
