HomeMy WebLinkAbout10 - On-Call Pump Repair and Maintenance ServicesCITY OF NEWPORT BEACH CITY COUNCIL STAFF REPORT Agenda Item No. 10 July 14, 2009 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: Utilities Department Cindy Asher, Administrative Manager, 949 -644 -3010 or casheracity.newport- beach.ca.us SUBJECT: ON -CALL PUMP REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE SERVICES — APPROVAL OF AMENDMENT TO PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH ORANGE COUNTY PUMP CORPORATION RECOMMENDATION: Approve Amendment No. 1 to Professional Services Agreement with Orange County Pump Corporation for on -call pump repair and maintenance services and authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the Amendment. DISCUSSION: Background: On June 24, 2008, the City Council approved a Professional Services Agreement (PSA) with Orange County Pump Corporation (OCPC), to provide as needed on -call pump and motor repair and maintenance services that may be required to keep the City's water wells, pumps and motors in service. This Professional Service Agreement expired June 30, 2009. On -call agreements allow staff to retain and quickly access specialized services that are regularly required for various repairs of the City's water wells, pumps and motors. OCPC is willing to extend the PSA for one year with no increase to fees. Staff recommends extending the term of the PSA for one year (June 2010). The Fee Schedule is attached. Orange County Pump Corporation has performed quality repairs on various pumps and motors on numerous occasions over the past five years. The scope of work for the on- call professional agreement being amended includes the following: on -site pump repairs, in -house pump and motor repairs, hoist and crane services for removal /repair of large pumps. These services include both scheduled and emergency repairs. Funding Availability: Funding is available in various line item accounts in the Water Division 5500 and the Wastewater Division 5600. Harbor Blvd., Santa Ana, CA 92703 ( "Contractor"), and is made with reference to the following: RECITALS A. On June 24, 2008, CITY and CONTRACTOR entered into an On -Call Professional Services Agreement, hereinafter referred to as "Agreement', for Pump Repair and Maintenance Services. This Agreement is scheduled to expire on June 30, 2009. B. City desires to enter into this Amendment No. 1 to extend the term of the Agreement to June 30, 2010, C. City and Contractor mutually desire to amend Agreement, hereinafter referred to as "Amendment No. 1 ", as provided here below. NOW, THEREFORE, the parties hereto agree as follows: 1. Contractor shall perform various pump repair and maintenance services pursuant to this Amendment No. 1 and according to the Request to Extend On -Call Services Agreement dated May 13, 2009, attached hereto as Exhibit A. 2. Compensation to the Contractor for services performed pursuant to this Amendment No. 1 for all work performed from July 1, 2009, to June 30, 2010, shall be based on the attached Schedule of Billing Rates (Exhibit B). 3, The term of the Agreement shall be extended to June 30, 2010. 4. Except . as expressly modified herein, all other provisions, terms, and covenants set forth in Agreement shall remain unchanged and shall be in full force and effect.
