SUBJECT: Appointment of David Kiff to Metro Cities Fire Authority Board of
Directors
RECOMMENDATION:
Appoint David Kiff as the Newport Beach member of the Metro Cities Fire Authority
Board of Directors.

Metro Cities Fire Authority is a joint powers authority that provides Fire Department
dispatch service for its seven member cities. Newport Beach has been a member since
the Authority was established in 1996.
The Authority is governed by a Board of Directors, with one Board member and one
Alternate Board member from each member city. Newport Beach has traditionally
appointed its City Manager as the Board member and Assistant City Manager as
Alternate Board member. As the Alternate Board member, I have served as Newport
Beach's active representative since 1996.
With the retirement of Homer Bludau, the City Council needs to appoint a new Board
member. Staff is recommending that City Manager David Kiff be appointed to this
position.
