De Santis, Economic Development Administrator 949 - 644 -3207, Idesantis @newportbeachca.gov SUBJECT: Appointment of the Advisory Board of the Newport Beach Restaurant Association Business Improvement District (NBRA) RECOMMENDATION: Confirm the NBRA election of Advisory Board and Executive Board members. DISCUSSION: Background: Under the 1989 BID Law the City Council appoints the Advisory Board. As a matter of practice the City Council has encouraged each BID to hold elections for its Advisory Board and then appointed /confirmed those members as the Advisory Board. The NBRA held its annual election at its annual member luncheon on September 9, 2009. At the subsequent Advisory Board Meeting on September 23, 2009 the Officers /Executive Committee of the Advisory Board was elected from among the Advisory Board members. Because the NBRA has between 350 and 400 members at any given time, NBRA By -Laws allow for an Advisory Board of not less than five (5) and not more than twenty-five (25). Zadeh, Port Restaurant & Bar Appoint NBRA Advisory Board October 13, 2009 Page 2 Advisory Board Members - 15 Nicole Hay, 21 Ocean Front Eldy Galietta, Barola by the Sea Rick Craig, Billy's by the Beach Jack Mau, China Palace Jeanie Palkoner, Daily Grill Dave Salisbury, Harborside Restaurant & Grand Ballroom John Bullard, Newport Landing Johnny Parratto, Radison Hotel Sam Tila, Royal Thai Cuisine Doug Cavanaugh, Ruby's Diner Tim Lowenberg, Roy's Restaurant Debbie Simes, The Cannery Restaurant Robert Ramirez, First Cabin Bill Bracken, The Palm Terrace Ray Jacobi, The Ritz Restaurant & Garden For the next year the Advisory Board of the NBRA will contain 20 members.
