SUBJECT: BUDGET AMENDMENT TO APPROPRIATE A GIFT FROM THE
NEWPORT BEACH LIBRARY FOUNDATION AND FUNDS IN THE
DISTINGUISHED SPEAKERS LECTURE SERIES (DSLS) LIBRARY
HOLDING ACCOUNT INTO THE DSLS EXPENDITURE ACCOUNT.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve a Budget Amendment in the amount of $65,000.
DISCUSSION:
Approve Budget Amendment to accept a gift of $29,000 from the Newport Beach
Library Foundation for DSLS programs and deposit the funds into revenue account
4010 -5901. Within the same Budget Amendment, approve the transfer $36,000 in the
DSLS Special Purpose Deposit Account (030- 22481) into revenue account 4010 -5901.
Direct staff to appropriate the total amount of $65,000 from 4010 -5901 into the following
expenditure accounts for maintenance and operations of the Distinguished Speakers
Lecture Series programs.
When appropriated the funds will be used as follows:
1. 4070 -8010 $4,000
- Advertising and public relations for the DSLS programs
11.4070 -8050 $500
- Postage and freight for the DSLS programs mailers
111.4070 -8080 55,000
Professional and technical services to run the DSLS programs:
contract services, speakers, airfare, limo, hotel, musicians, lighting
IV.4070 -8140 $5,000
- Supplies for the programs: food, beverages, rental equipment, florist,
dry cleaners
V. 4070 -8200
- Special supplies: miscellaneous
