SUBJECT: Appointment of Committee to Discuss Lease Terms for Marinapark
Property with Sutherland Talla Hospitality
RECOMMENDATION:
Confirm Mayor's appointment of Mayor Pro Tern Ridgeway and Council Member
Heffernan.
DISCUSSION:
Following the City Council's approval of an amended agreement with Sutherland Talla
on March 11, 2003, the City Attorney and staff are following up on tidelands and mobile
home park issues and retaining consultants to prepare environmental, economic and
fiscal studies of the proposed hotel. Especially for the economic and fiscal studies, it
will be helpful to know the general terms of a lease that the City Council would accept,
should the project be approved by the voters. Information on economic return to the
City from the development will also be important to the voters.
At the Council meeting of May 13, Mayor Bromberg expressed his intention to appoint a
City Council committee comprised of Mayor Pro Tern Ridgeway and Council Member
Heffernan to discuss lease terms with Sutherland Talla Hospitality.
