HomeMy WebLinkAbout14 - Appointment of Bill Sinclair to EDCCITY OF NEWPORT BEACH CITY COUNCIL STAFF REPORT Agenda Item No. 14 June 10, 2003 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: City Manager's Office Sharon Wood, Assistant City Manager 644 -3222, swood @city.newport- beach.ca.us SUBJECT: Appointment of Bill Sinclair to Economic Development Committee RECOMMENDATION: Appoint Bill Sinclair as Corona del Mar Chamber of Commerce representative to the Economic Development Committee. DISCUSSION: The Economic Development Committee (EDC) includes representatives from the many different geographic and business areas in the City. B. J. Johnson recently resigned as the representative from the Corona del Mar Chamber of Commerce, and the Chamber has asked that Bill Sinclair be appointed to fill this vacancy. The EDC has recommended approval of the appointment. Mr. Sinclair is the current President and Chief Executive Officer of the Corona del Mar Chamber of Commerce, and has served in that capacity for the past two years. He has lived in Corona del Mar since 1998, and owns a home there. Bill serves the community as a volunteer with the Newport Beach Police Department, and belongs to the Corona del Mar Community Church. Formerly, Mr. Sinclair was chairman of the board and chief executive officer of the Washington Federal Savings Bank and the 1s' Washington Mortgage Company. He has been active on the faculty of the Federal Reserve System, in the Mortgage Banker's Association, AT &T's Banking School, and the Federal Financial Institution's Examination Council.
