Harkless, City Clerk 949 - 644 -3005, Iarkless @city.newport - beach.ca.us SUBJECT: REPORT ON COUNCIL MEMBER NICHOLS' COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS RECOMMENDATION: That City Council take whatever action it deems appropriate DISCUSSION: At the City Council meeting of June 24, 2003, Mayor Bromberg requested that staff bring back an agenda item reporting on Council Member Nichols' committee assignments. Pursuant to City Council Policy A -9 and the enabling resolutions for the Council Committee, Council /Citizens Ad Hoc Committees, and Citizens Advisory Committees, on January 14, 2003, Council Member Nichols, as well as the other Council Members listed, were appointed by Mayor Bromberg to the following committees. The appointments were confirmed by the full City Council. Council Committees Finance Committee: Council Member Nichols Council Member Heffernan (Chair) Council Member Webb Council /Citizens Ad Hoc Committees Oil and Gas Field Operations Committee: Council Member Nichols Mayor Pro Tern Ridgeway REPORT ON COUNCIL MEMBER NICHOLS' COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS July 8, 2003 Page 2 Web Site Review Ad Hoc Committee: Council Member Nichols Council Member Adams (Chair) Mayor Pro Tern Ridgeway Ad Hoc Telecommunications Committee: Council Member Nichols Council Member Heffernan (Chair) Representatives to Joint Governmental Committees Growth Management Area 8 Representative Hazardous Waste Material Joint Powers Authority Santa Ana River Flood Protection Agency: Council Member Proctor Council Member Heffernan (alternate) Citizens Advisory Committees Environmental Quality Affairs Citizens Advisory Committee: Mayor Bromberg Council Member Nichols Council Policy A -9 states that the appointments are made on an annual basis by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by the full City Council. Based on that premise, if the Mayor elects to change his appointments, this action would also require confirmation by the full Council. Environmental Review: Not applicable. Submitted by: LaVonne M.
