SUBJECT: TRAFFIC CONTROL ON 11T" STREET AND 13T" STREET AT WEST
BAY AVENUE
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Resolution No. 98- requiring traffic on 11'h Street and 13th Street to stop at
the intersection of West Bay Avenue.
DISCUSSION:
The Public Works Department received a request from a resident in the vicinity of 11"
Street and West Bay Avenue suggesting that STOP signs be installed on 11'h Street at
West Bay Avenue and on 13'h Street at West Bay Avenue. These are the only streets
in the area that vehicles can enter West Bay Avenue without having to stop. Staff has
reviewed these two intersections and concurs that the installation of two stop signs will
increase safety and reduce driver confusion.

RESOLUTION NO. 98-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT
BEACH REQUIRING VEHICLES TRAVELING ON 11T" STREET TO
STOP AT WEST BAY AVENUE AND VEHICLES TRAVELING ON 13T"
STREET TO STOP AT WEST BAY AVENUE
WHEREAS, Section 12.36.010 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code provides
that whenever any ordinance or resolution of this City designates and describes any
intersection at which vehicles are required to stop at one or more entrances thereto, the
City Traffic Engineer shall erect and maintain STOP signs at those entrances of each
intersection where a stop is required; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that there is a need for intersection control
on 11'h Street at West Bay Avenue and on 13th Street at West Bay Avenue in the City of
Newport Beach;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach, that the following described location is hereby designated as a location
at which vehicles are required to stop:
On 11th Street at West Bay Avenue and
On 13`h Street at West Bay Avenue
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Traffic Engineer be and hereby is
directed to erect and maintain all necessary signs at the above locations.
