HomeMy WebLinkAbout(1970, 11/09) - C-3 - AdoptedC -3 FUTURE CITY OF IRVINE The Newport Beach City Council continues to endorse and support a concept of a proposal toward a new City of Irvine. Boundaries for the proposed City of Irvine, as submitted by the Council of Communities of Irvine, will be acceptable to the Newport Beach City Council, provided: 1. That the ultimate boundary in the vicinity of San Joaquin Hills Road be revised so as to assure conformance with sound planning principles; 2. That the Orange County Airport be excluded from the proposed City of Irvine; 3. That the Collins Radio property, now the subject of a pending annex- ation proceeding authorized by LAFCO, be excluded from the proposed City of Irvine; and, 4. That, in determining boundaries in the industrial area bounded by Campus Drive, MacArthur Boulevard, Jamboree Road, and the San Diego Freeway, or in any other land contiguous to the City bound- aries of Newport Beach, the landowners and occupiers of the land be given an opportunity for self - determination and their decisions are to be given consideration by all of the concerned parties, including LAFCO. a. Accordingly, with regard to the above mentioned area in the vicinity of the Orange County Airport, it will be the policy of the Newport Beach City Council: 1. Not to initiate proceedings to annex any property therein; 2. To reserve the right to consider favorably any annexation request if initiated by a landowner or land occupier (and subject to LAFCO approval); and, 3. Further, to remain neutral in all other mat- ters concerning municipal boundaries within the subject area in the vicinity of the Orange County Airport. Adopted - November 9, 1970
