OCEAN BEACH STABILIZATION
The City Council endorses the Beach Erosion Control Project from the
San Gabriel River to Newport Bay as proposed by the Corps of Engineers
and as participated in by the State of California, the County of
Orange, and other local shoreline owners, subject to the following
reservations and conditions:
1. That the contracting agencies agree to assume
responsibility for the cost of correcting any
adverse effects to the shoreline or beach area
between the west jetty of the Newport Harbor
entrance and the Santa Ana River which results
from the execution of said plan.
2. That the Corps of Engineers submit to the City
of Newport Beach for its comments and recommenda-
tions and approval all plans and contracts for
work within the City limits of Newport Beach
prior to the Corps' approval of said plans and /or
contracts.
3. That Beach Erosion Control Studies to determine
sources of replacement of sand and sand migration
continue.
4. That no plans for any offshore breakwater be con-
sidered or commenced without prior approval of the
City of Newport Beach.
