LIBRARY SERVICES POLICY
The City of Newport Beach has a unique geographical configuration that
precludes the provision of library services from one central location.
Consequently, in order to provide more library accessibility to the
residents, the Newport Beach library system has been based on a librarybranchconcept.
To fulfill this policy, the City has been fairly evenly divided into
four geographical areas; the Peninsula and West Newport, covered by
the Balboa Branch Library; the Newport Heights and Mariners area,
served by Mariners Branch; Corona del Mar, served by the Corona del
Mar Branch; Newport Center, Big Canyon, Bluffs and Harbor View Hills
area, covered by the Newport Center Branch Library.
Through joint planning, the Library and the City can work hand in hand
with one another. The City Council urges the Library to meet the
continuing and changing needs of the City and its patrons.
