TITLE: Cultural Arts Activities for July 2014
The Concerts on the Green continue to be popular. The All American Boys Chorus concert on July 6th
drew over 700 attendees who enjoyed both patriotic fare and interpretations of classic pop music.
Over 3,000 members of the community attended the 2 Shakespeare by the Sea plays held on July 19
and the 20th at Bonita Canyon Sports Park. This year’s line-up consisted of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark
and A Midsummers Night Dream. Adult Programming Librarian Andrea Jason and Maintenance
Specialist Eddie Flores did a great job of coordinating the concert and the plays.
The award winners from the Newport Beach Art Exhibition and Sale displayed their work in the Central
Library during the month of July. The exhibition elicited many positive comments in regard to the
quality of the work.
Staff continues to plan a Grand Opening event for the Sculpture Exhibition in the Civic Center Park that
will be held on Saturday, September 13 at 2 PM in the Civic Center Community Room. The Sculpture
Garden Grand Opening is being coordinated by Janis Dinwiddie of Dinwiddie Events.
