HomeMy WebLinkAbout16 - Lower Sunset View Park Conceptual Design – Approval of PSA (15T09) - PowerPointLower Sunset View Park Sunset Ridge Park April 26, 2016 Item No. 16 Through a PBR Sub-Committee - Develop Concept for Entire Lower Sunset View Park. Some Desired or Discussed Amenities could Include: o Superior Avenue & Pacific Coast Highway Pedestrian/Cyclist Over- Crossings or (Ped Bridges) . o Bicycle Node – Parking, Water and Vending, Bike Services, etc. o Transit Connection(s) (three bus route crossings). o Dog Park. o Additional Parking for: Sunset Ridge Park, Beach & Leisure, Bicycle Node, Park and Ride, Peninsula Trolley, Community Spillover. City Council Approval of Concept Plan & Environmental Document With an Approved Concept, pursue Coastal Permitting and Grant Funding Opportunities Very High Pedestrian and Cyclist Crossing Volumes Improves Level of Service and Safety of Intersection Identified in OCTA PCH Study as Desired Improvement Connects New Sunset Ridge Park to Sunset View Park, Parking Lot and to Balboa Blvd. •Very High Levels of Leisure and Commuter Bicyclist. •Excellent Multi-Module Transition Point. •Desired and Used by the Community •PBR Commission Currently Studying Possible Locations Lower Sunset View Park Timeline Council Approval of Professional Service Agreement for Development of Concept Plan and Environmental Document (tonight). Staff/Consultant Team work with Park, Beaches & Recreation Committee, solicit Public Review & Comments, and Develop a Draft Concept Plan. Return Draft Concept Plan to City Council for Review & further Public Comments. Incorporate Council Comments & Direction into Concept Plan. Final Concept Plan & Environmental Document completed and returned to City Council for Review & Approval. Develop and submit application to Coastal Commission for Coastal Development Permit to Construct Lower Sunset View Park.
