HomeMy WebLinkAboutSS3 - Presentation - Corona del Mar State Beach Rescue - Photos/ProclamationJune 28, 2016 WJIEREAS, on Sunday, May 29, 2016, at 4:15 p. m., a swimmer was training for a triathlon in the waters off of Corona del Mar State Beach; and WaulgS, while she was swimming, she was bitten causing massive injuries to her arm and upper torso; and `WJi U,4S, Lifeguard Captain Mike Vre and Lifeguard OfficerAndy Matsuyama were patrolling the area in the Cfeguard rescue boat and witnessed the swimmer in distress; and U-'Ja12,E.4S, Lifeguards Vre and Matsuyama quickly reached the swimmer and rescued her from the water; and UEUAS, Lifeguards Vre and Matsuyama immediately provided advanced emergency medical care to the swimmer's life-threatening injuries; and called for additional assistance from Fire (Paramedics; and WHrEUAS, Lifeguards Vre and Matsuyama transported the swimmer to awaiting paramedics on land for further treatment and transport to the hospital and V,MUREAS, the actions taken by Lifeguard Captain Mike Vre and Lifeguard OfficerAndy Matsuyama saved the fife of a swimmer with a severe injury from a shark attack, and $09 gAS, the actions of these Cfeguard personnel are in the highest traditions of the fire service and affirm our mission of providing outstanding service to the pu6lic.
