HomeMy WebLinkAbout(1994, 01/24) - M-6 - AdoptedM-6 PUBLICLY OWNED PAY TELEPHONES Pay telephones shall be installed and maintained by the City of Newport Beach throughout the City in an effort to: 1. Promote efficient access to the telephone system to the general public. 2. To facilitate communications to the public using City facilities. 3. To improve access to the City's emergency services and reduce response time. 4. To provide revenue for the City. 5. To standardize the telephone service and equipment available within the City. 6. To eliminate private installations or encroachments in any public right-of-way. The City will endeavor to provide telephone service in a progressive and efficient manner and shall meet all requirements of the Public Utilities Commission and the Federal Communications Commission in so doing. The City shall install and maintain public pay telephones at all locations where there is a demonstrated need and where the cost of providing service is off -set by call revenues. Priority shall be given to those locations and City facilities with a large number of users or visitors. Final location of all publicly owned telephones will be reviewed by the Utilities Committee prior to installation. Adopted - January 24,1994
