Re: Life Safety Services Fee Update
Dear Mayor and Council:
On behalf of our membership, we would like to offer comment on the proposed
update to the City's Life Safety Services Fee Update. We thank the City and
staff for the opportunity to review the proposed adjustment.
The Building Industry Association of Southern California, Orange County
Chapter (BIA/OC) is a non-profit trade association of over 1,100 member
companies employing over 100,000 people affiliated with the home building
industry. The Orange County Chapter represents the largest member base
within BIA Southern California. Our mission is to champion housing as the
foundation of vibrant and sustainable communities.
As you are aware, the BIA is always concerned by actions that increase the cost
of housing. In the midst of a crushing housing crisis in California, every fee has
an impact on the cost of housing. That said, we are very pleased to see the
delayed implementation on this adjustment. Allowing residents and
homebuilders the opportunity to plan for increasing costs can go a long way to
protecting project viability.
