The Hoard of Trustees of the City of :.owport Beach met in reg -filar adjourned session at 7:30 o'clock P. I;. on above date. The meeting was called to order by President J. J. Schnitker. The roll was called showing the full Board present. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The communications were read and referred to the proper order of business. Bain is the ovmer and holder of that certain real property located in the City of I'.ewport Beach, Orange County, California particularly described as: Parcel 1. Beginnin._ at t ?.e northwest corner of Lot 10 of a resub- division of Block 227, Section "A" Newport Beach, as shown upon a i:ap thereof recorded in Book 4, page 36, i.iscollaneous maps, records of Orange County, and running thence northeasterly a distance of 118.4 feet to the most northerly corner of said Lot 10; thence southeasterly along the northeasterly line of said Lot 10 - 100 feet; thence southwesterly and parallel to the northwesterly line of said Lot 10 to a point in the southwesterly line of said Lot. 10; thence northwesterly along said southwesterly line of said Lot 10 - 100 feet to the place of beginning. Bain is Trilling to exchange the land described as Parcel 1 for the land described as Parcel 2, �-ITIEREAS, said lands are of equal value; RRSOLVRD, that the City of ';ewport Beach in consideration of the granting to it by Ferdinand R. Bain of tl,o land described as Parcel 1, and pursuant to his written request, grant to Southern Counties Gas Company of California, a corporation, the land described as Parcel 2. 'y7 71 RESOLVED, that the President of the Board of Trustees and the Clerk of the City of i'ewport Beach be and tliey are hereby authorized and directed to execute and deliver to Southern Counties Gas Company of California, a grant of Parcel 2 upon receiving from Ferdinand R. Bain a grant to Parcel 1. The roll was called and the foregoing Resolution passed by the following vote: Ayes, Trustees J. J. Schnitker, I_. C. Sloan, Geo. P. 1.-:ilson, Conrad Richter, L. S. This being the first I.:onday after the 12tl, day of December, 1922 on which date was hold a special election at which was submitted to the qualified electors of the City of 1- ewport Beach, the question whether Ordinance ; ?o. 216 of the City of :.1 -port Beach should go into effect and become operative, and returns of said election being now in the hands of the Clerk, the Board of Trustees ordered the returns opened and proceeded 't-o canvass the same. And from the votes cast and the canvass thereof the Hoard of Trustees finds and orders to be here established of record that the votes cast at the election both for and against the proposition are as follows: Votes YES and in favor of passage of the ordinance, 179 votes, Votes ITO and opposed to passage of the ordinance, - 82 votes, Total votes cast, - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- 261 votes. That the votes of fifty -one per cent and more of all the voters voting at the election voted YES and to authorize the passage of the Ordinance. The matter of havin', the dredging done in I.1unicipal Improvement District Yo. 1 for which bonds were issued and sold some time ago was discussed, and on motion of Trustee Geo. P. Wilson seconded by Trustee Ii. C. Sloan and carried, a committee was appointed consisting of Trustee C. Sloan and L. S. Wilkinson to take the matter up with the ?:arbor Commission and if satisfactory arrangements cannot be made to take the matter uo r;ith the Dredger no'a in tl e flay. The matter of the unsafe condition of the Pacific ::lectric road bed and several broken rails between here and Huntington Beach was brou ht up, a::d on :notion of Trustee Conrad Richter seconded. by Trustee Geo. Jackson, Fire Chief e.as given instructions to purchase approxiriately 100 feet of new fire hose, and to turn over 100 feet of the old hose to the ':.later Department for flushing sewers. On motion of Trustee Conrad Richter seconded by Trustee L. S. ';!ilkinson and carried, Trustee =i. C. "loan was instructed to see the owner of Lot 9 in Block 9 Balboa Tract in regard to its purchase for enlargement of the toilets and fire hall, and also to take up the matter with the Crown Stage Co. of locating their station on part., of sane. On motion of Trustee :i. C. Sloan seconded by '1'rustee.Geo. P. :`ilson and carried, the request of r_. C. Rice for an extension of 60 days on his street: li h'tiny- contract, was granted. On motion of Trustee ; eo. P. �!ilson seconded by Trustee i:. C. Sloan and carried, the application of Gus ! ?. Johnson for permission to cut the curb for marine railroads in front of Block 5; Section 5, Dal'eoa Island, was granted subject to the will of the Board. "72 _ On motion of Trustee Y. C. Sloan seconded b7T Trustee Goo. ':`ilson and carried, the application of the I'owport Harbor !.:arine Corn. for permission to build a pleasure pier for C. II, Price, was granted subject- to the will of the Board. The matter of a new jail was considered, and on motion of Trustee Conrad Richter seconded by Trustee Geo. P. '.!ilson and carried, the recommendation of the Police Coiffaittee that the jail be placed on t'r,e southeasterly side of the gas wabehouse was accepted, and t'_.'e City };ngineer r!as instructed to dram up plaits and specifications for the jail. The need of a bridle across the Rive Alto on 36th Street ,-ias considered, and on motion of Trustee L. S. 4;ilkinson seconded by li'rustee ';eo. P. ':!ilson and carried, the City Iln-�inoor was instructed to propare plans and specifications for the bridge, and the Clerk was instructed ' to advertise for bids on same. On motion of Trustee C.
