BEACH PURSUANT TO T FARENDUM ORDINANCE AND PURSUANT TO THE TIVE A PROPOSED OR] OF SAID CITY. NO. The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach do ordain as fol- lows: Section (1) : A special election is I hereby called and ordered to be; held at and in the City of Newportl Beach on the 20th day of November, 1923. For the purpose of holding said special election, the City of Newport I. 'Beach is hereby divided into two special election precincts to be de- signated special election precinct No. 1 and special election precinct No. 2. The precincts of the City of Newport Beach constituting No. 1 and No. 2 as now established by the Board of Sup- ervisors of the County of Orange for the holding of the general elec- tion in the year of 1922 shall be and constitute the special election pre- cinct of like number. A polling place is hereby establish- ed and a Board of Election appointed to hold, conduct and make returns of the special election in each of the ^special election precincts as follows: Special election precinct No. 1, Poll- ing place southwest room of the City Hall. Board of Election: Inspector, Henry Peter Starck. - Judge, Joseph H. Utz. Judge, Hugh Mc Milian. Clerk, Mrs. Miriam S. Porter. Clerk, Mrs. Emma B. Smith. Clerk, Mrs. Arline E. Jasper. Special election Precinct No. 2, Poll- ing place Fire Hall at Balboa. j Board of Election: Inspector, Henry J. Burns. Judge, Cornelius A. McGrew. Judge, Chas. H. Ehrhorn. Clerk, Harry B. Tudor. Clerk, Mrs. Dora E. Rodger. Clerk, Harry M. Aldrich. Section (2): The special election is called for the purpose of submitting to a vote of the electors of the City of Newport Beach pursuant to the referendum the question "Shall or- dinance No. 242 go into effect ?" and for the submission to the vote of the electors of said City the question "Shall a proposed ordinance be a- . dopted ?" and each of said questions are hereby submitted. Section (3): At the special election the ballots used shall have - printed thereon the words "Shall ordinance No. 242 go into effect ?" and stating the nature thereof and shall also have printed thereon the words "Shall a proposed ordinance be adopted ?" stating the nature thereof. Opposite each such proposition to be voted on and to the right thereof there shall be printed on the ballots the words "Yes" and "No" on seperate lines with voting squares. If an elector shall stamp a cross (X) in the voting square after the printed word "Yes" his or her vote shall be counted in favor of the proposition voted upon, but, if an elector shall stamp a cross (X) in the' voting square after the printed 1 word "No" his or her vote shall be counted against the proposition voted upon Section (4): Ordinance- . 0.242; (shall not go into effect unless a majority of the voters voting upon the same shall vote "Yes" and in favor thereof. Section (5) : If, at the special elec- tion a majority of the voters voting on j the proposition of the adopting of the proposed ordinance shall vote "Yes ".' and in favor thereof then; the -. _ Fi,'4 posed ordinance shall be a valid sad binding ordinance of the City of Newport Beach and shall be consider- . ed as adopted upon the date that the vote is canvassed and declar:.: byi the Canvassing Board and go into' effect ten days thereafter. Section (6): Every officer o` the City of Newport Beach is hereby' di.:; rected to perform and discharg8;$E duty required of such off:cer'by}>€w concerning the holding OI elections for the purposes herein specified. Section (7): This ordinance- shall be published once in the Newport• - News, a newspaper of general cir- culation printed and published and circulated in the City of Newport Beach, and the same being an ordi- nance called and otherwise relating to an election and shalt go into ef- fect and be enforced from and -after its Passage. I I hereby certify that the foregoing ordinance was passed at a regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach held on the 22nd. day of October, 1923, by. the following vote: AYES, Trustees, J. J. Sclmitker, H. C. Sloan, Geo. P. Wilson, Conrad Richter, L. S. Wilkinson. NOES, Trustees, none. ABSENT, Trustees, none. The foregoing ordinance no., 246 having been passed this 22nd day of October, 1923, is hereby signed and approved by me, J. J.
