HomeMy WebLinkAbout446 - Laundry Facility Tax0 r 1 L J • • • • ORDINANCE NO. 446 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AMENDING SECTIONS 22 AND 51 OF ORDINANCE NO. 393 OF THE CITY OF NEW- PORT BEACH. The City of Newport Beach, by and through its City Council, does ordain as follows, to -wit: SECTION 1. Section 22 of Or- dinance No. 393 of the City of Newport Beach is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 22. The rate of li- cense for the operation of a laun- dry is hereby fixed at $50.00 per annum, and the rate of license for operating laundry wagons which shall be construed to be a vehicle operated, run or driven from house to house, or to business places, ho- tels, restaurants, lodging houses or apartment houses, within the City of Newport Beach, for col- lecting and receiving clothes. table or bed linen and other articles to be washed, cleaned, dry cleaned or pressed, and returned, and unless such wagons are operated in con- nection with a laundry which has paid the above license tax, then the license for each laundry run- ning or operating wagons in said City, shall be $50.00 per annum." SECTION 2. Section 51 of Or- dinance No. 393 of the City of Newport Beach is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 51. The rate of license for conducting the business of a dry cleaning or clothes pressing -establishment which shall be con- strued to be a plane where clothes are cleaned, renovated or pressed, shall be $25.00 per annum, and the rate of license for operating dry cleaning wagons, which shall be construed to be a vehicle operated, run or driven from house to house, or to business places, hotels, rest - rurants, lodging houses, or apart- ment houses, within the City of Newport Beach, for collecting and receiving clothes and other articles to be cleaned, dry cleaned, pressed or renovated, and returned, and unless such wagons are operated in connection with a dry cleaning establishment which has paid the Above license tax, the license for each vehicle or dry cleaning wagon as aforesaid, shall be $25.00 per annum-­ SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be published once in NEW- PORT NEWS, a newspaper of, general circulation, printed, .pub- lished and circulated in the City of Newport Beach, and this Ordin- ance shall take effect and be in force thirty days after its passage. Th? above and foregoing ordin- ance was passed at a regular ad- journed meeting of the City .Coun- cil of the City of Newport Beach held on the 20th day of July, 1936, by the following vote, to -wit: AYES, Councilmen: Gordop, Claire, Whitson, Garfield, William- son. NOES, Councilmen: None. ABSENT: Councilmen: None. The above and foregoing Ordi nance is approved and signed by me this 20th day of July, 1936. HARRY H. WILUAMSON, Mayor of the City of New Beach.
