ORDINANCE APPROVING THE
ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN
UNINHABITED TERRITORY
CONTIGUOUS TO THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH LYING
GENERALLY NORTHERLY
OF THE ARCHES IN THE
CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH.
The City Council of the City
of Newport Beach, California,
does ordain as follows:
Section 1: That the annexation
to the City of Newport Beach,
California, of that certain unin-
habited territory contiguous to
said City, lying generally north-
erly of The Arches in the City
of Newport Beach, is hereby ap-
proved, and that the same is here-
by ordained to be annexed and
made a part of the City of New-
port Beach, California. That said
territory is particularly described
as follows:
All that certain land situ-
ated in the County of Orange,
State of California, being con-
tiguous to the boundaries of
the City of Newport Beach
and described as follows:
Beginning at the point of
intersection of the southwest-
erly prolongation of the
northwesterly boundary line
of the Irvine Subdivision, as
shown on a map recorded in
Book 1, page 88 of Miscel-
laneous Maps, records of Or-
ance County, California, with
the line of ordinary high tide
of the Pacific Ocean in New-
port Bay, and designated
"North Line" in the decree
rendered in the action en-
titled City of Newport Beach,
Plaintiff, vs. F. M. Strobridge,
and others, Defendants, Case
No. 23686 of the Superior
Court of Orange County, Cali-
fornia, a certified copy of
which decree was recorded
September 191h, 1928 in Book .
201, page 253 of Official Rec-
ords of said County, said or-
dinary high tide line also be-
ing the northerly boundary
line of the City of Newport
Beach; running thence North
39° 43' 45" East along the
said northwesterly line of
Irvine Subdivision 241.63 feet
to a point in the southerly
line of the one hundred foot
California State Highway
right of way, as described in
Deed from F. M. Strobridge
and, Myrtle E. Strobridge, to
the State of California, re-
corded September 141h, 1929
in Book 304, page 385 of
Official Records -A said Coun-
ty: 'el—nee South 70° 05' 30"
East along the southerly line
of said Highway 187.92 feet
to the point of beginning of a
curve deflecting to the left;
thence easterly 'along said
curve concave to the north
and having a radius of 1,550
feet, a distance of 222.72 feet
to a point in the southerly
line of said State Highway;
thence South 9° 27' West
339.42 feet to a point in the
said line of ordinary high tide
of the Pacific Ocean in New-
port Bay and designated
"North Line "; thence North
73° 34' 20" West along said
ordinary high tide line 83.55
feet; thence North 37° 15'
30" W;. .A along said ordinary
high tide line 215.35 feet;
thence North 74° 17' 11" West
along said ordinary high tide
line 289.84 feet to the point
of beginning.
Section 2. That the boundaries
of the City of Newport Beach,
California, be, and the same are
hereby altered to include the
above described territory, the an-
nexation of which is approved and
ordained. herein and incorporated
in the City of Newport Beach,
California.
Section 3. That the proceedings
and annexation herein ordained
are had and taken under and pur-
suant to.the provisions of an Act
of the Legislature of the State of
California, designated and refered
to as the "Annexation of Unin-
habited Territory Act of 1939".
Section 4. The Illy Clerk shall
can,, this Ordinance to be pub-
lished within fifteen (15) days
after its passage, at least once in
the Newport - Balboa News- Times,
a newspaper of general circulation
published and circulated in the.
City of Newport Beach.
The foregoing Ordinance was.
Introduced by the Council of the
City of Newport Beach at its.
regular meeting of April 1, 19461
and finally adopted at a regular
adjourned meeting of said Coun-
cil held on the 16th day o£ April,
1946.
