AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING
FOR THE TRANSFER TO THE
COUNTY OF ORANGE OF AS-
SESSMENT, . EQUALIZATION
AND COLLECTION OF CITY
PROPERTY TAXES; REPEAL-
ING SECTIONS 2600
THROUGH 2682 (a), EXCEPT-
ING SECTIONS 2652 and 2653;'
RENUMBERING SECTIONS
2652 and 2653 TO 2600 and 2601
RESPECTIVELY; AND ADD-
ING SECTION 2602 THERETO.
The City Council of the City of
Newport Beach does hereby ordain
as follows:
SECTION 1: Sections 2600,

Code of the City of Newport Beach
are hereby repealed, said repeal
to take effect as of the First Mon-
day in February, 1953.
SECTION 2: There is hereby
added to the Municipal Code of the
City of Newport Beach, Section
2602, to read as follows:
"Section 2602. Transfer of Pro-
perty Tax to County. The City of
Newport Beach does hereby elect
that the duties of the assessment
of property in the City of Newport
Beach for City of Newport Beach
taxes, the equalization and- correc-
tion of the assessment thereof,
the collection, payment and en-
forcement of the said- taxes, in-
eluding delinquent taxes and the
redemption of property from sale
or other penalty for the non -pay-
ment of said City taxes now pro-
vided by law to be assessed by the
City Assessor, collected by the
City Tax Collector and equalized
and corrected by the City Clerk of
the City of Newport Beach, all
shall be performed by the Orange
County Assessor, the Orange
County Tax Collector, the Orange
County Auditor and the Board of
Supervisors of Orange County,
when acting as a Board of Equali-
zation.
SECTION 3: Section 2652 of
the Municipal Code of the City of
Newport Beach is hereby renum-
bered as 2600.
SECTION 4: Section 2653 of
the Municipal Code of the City of
Newport Beach is .hereby renum-
bered as 2601.
Section 5: This Ordinance shall
be published once in the. Newport
Harbor Ensign, a newspaper of
general circulation, printed and
published in the City of Newport
Beach, and the same shall be in
full force and effect 30 days after
this passage.
The foregoing Ordinance was
introduced at a regular meeting
of the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach, held on the 22nd
day of September, 1952, and was
finally passed and adopted on the
29th day of September, 1952, by
the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen: Smith,
Finch, Miller
NOES, Councilmen: Isbell,
Bennett
ABSENT, Councilmen: None
