Unclaimed Pro- <br />perty." All property coming into <br />the possession of the Police De- <br />partment of the City of Newport <br />Beach, the ownership of which, is <br />unknown to the Police Depart- <br />ment, and which said property re- <br />mains unclaimed, shall be retained <br />by the Pollee Department for a <br />period of six months from receipt <br />of same in a safe place. <br />"Section 3405. Notice oY sale of <br />Unclaimed Property. At any time <br />after the expiration of the six <br />month period set by Section 3404, <br />the Chief of Police shall give no- <br />tice of the time and place of an <br />intended sale of such unclaimed <br />property by publication of such <br />notice in a newspaper of general <br />' circulation, printed and published <br />in the City of Newport Beach, said <br />publication to take place at least <br />five days before the time fixed <br />for such intended sale. At the <br />time and place set in -the notice <br />for such sale, the Chief of Police, <br />or any other officer of the Police <br />Department, shall sell such pro- <br />perty at public auction to the <br />highest bidder, for cash. The re- <br />ceipts of such sale shall accrue <br />to and be deposited in the Gen- <br />oral Fund of the City of Newport <br />Beach. Any property not sold at <br />such sale shall be destroyed." <br />SECTION 2: This Ordinance <br />shall be published once in the <br />Newport- Balboa Press, a news- <br />paper of general- circulation, print- <br />ed and published in the City of <br />'Newport Beach, and the same <br />shall be in full force and effect <br />30 days after this publication. <br />The foregoing Ordinance was in- <br />troduced at a regular meeting of <br />the City Council of , the City of <br />Newport Beach, held on the 8th <br />,day of February, 1954, and was <br />finally passed and adopted on the <br />23rd day of February, 1954, by the <br />following vote, to wit: <br />AYES, Councilmen: Smith, <br />'Finch, Isbell, Bennett, Miller. <br />NOES, Councilmen: None <br />ABSENT Councilmen: None <br />NORMAN MILLER <br />Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />C.
