ORDINANCE NO. 727
AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE
SALARY OF THE CITY
TREASURER
WHEREAS, it has been pro -.
posed that the salary of the City
Treasurer of the City of Newport
Beach be increased to the sum
of ONE HUNDRED FIFTY
($150.00) DOLLARS per month;
and
WHEREAS, any provisions of
lave, including charters, or of the
Constitution of the State of Cali-
fornia which prohibit the in-
crease of compensation of any
county, township or municipal
officer, after his election or dur-
ing his term of office, are sus-
pended as provided for in Sec-
tions 5W70 and 53071 of the
Government Code of the State
of California and Article XI,
Section 5 of the Constitution of
said State of California; and
WHEREAS, it is deemed neces-
sary and advisable to raise the
salary of the City Treasurer of
the City of Newport Beach and
"to fix said salary;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City
Council of the City of Newport
Beach does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1: The salary of the
City Treasurer of the City of
Newport Beach is hereby raised
to and fixed at the sum of ONE
HUNDRED FIFTY ($150.00) DOL-
LARS per month until further
action by this City Council.
SECTION 2: This Ordinance
shall be published at least once
in the Newport Harbor Ensign,
a newspaper of general circula-
tion, printed and published in
the City of Newport Beach and
shall be in force and effect
thirty (30) days after the final
passage thereof.
The foregoing Ordinance was
introduced at a regular meeting
of the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach, held on the 23th
day of July, 1954, and was final-
ly passed and adopted on the
9th day of August, 1954, by the
following vote, to -wit:
AYES, COUNCILMEN: Broer-
ing, Smith, Hill.
NOES, COUNCILMEN: Miller,
Bennett.
ABSENT COUNCILMEN: None.
