OF NEWPORT BEACH; PRO.
HIBITING THE SALE OF IL-
LUSTRATED CRIME OR HOR-
ROR COMIC BOOKS TO ANY
PERSON UNDER THE AGE OP
EIGHTEEN YEARS.
The City Council of the City
Of Newport Beach does hereby
ordain as follows:
SECTION I: There is hereby-
Added to the Municipal Code of
the City of Newport Beach, Sec.
tion 6306 of Chapter 3 of Article
VI, to read as follows:
"Section 6306: Sale of Illu-
strated Crime or Horror Comio
Books Prohibited. It shall be ur1-
lawful to sell, offer for sale, dis-
tribute or give to any person
under the age of 18 years, any
illustrated crime or horror comie
book, magazine or other publi.
cation which deals in substan•
tial part with crimes of force,
violence, passion, Just, immor-
ality or bloodshed, and which is
designed in form to resemble
closely those books, magazines
- and other publications devoted
in Substance to matters of
humor or adventure published
Primarily for sale to children.
The provisions of this section
shall not apply to comic strips
appearing in newspapers, hu•
morous comic books, historical
or literary publications wherein
the written story is illustrated
in part by drawing, pictures,
sketches or photographs."
Section 2: This Ordinance
shall be published once in the
Newport Harbor Ensign, a news•
Paper of general circulation,
Printed and published in the
City of Newport Beach, and
shall be In full force and effect
30 days after the final passage
thereof.

nance was introduced at a reg-
ular meeting of the City Council
of the City Of Newport Beach,
•- held on the 23rd day of August,
1954, and was finally passed
and adopted on the 13th day of
September, 1954, by the follow.
