ORDINANCE NO- 797
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING.:
SUBDIVISION (b) (1) OF
SUBSECTION 6 OF SECTION
2200 OF THE MUNICIPAL
CODE OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH EN-
TITLED "CLASSIFICATION
AND SALARY PLAN."
The City Council of the City of
Newport Beach, State of Califor.
nia, does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1: Section subdivi-
sion (b) (1) of subsection 6 of
Section 2200 entitled "Classifica-
tion and Salary Plan" of the Mu-
nicipal Code of the City of New.
port Beach be, and the same is,
hereby amended to read as fol-
lows:
"(b) Entrance Salary Rates.
(1) Starting Rate on Initial
Employment: On original
appointment to any position
the salary shall be at the en-
trance or first step rate ex-
cept as otherwise provided
herein, and advancement
from the entrance rate to the
.maximum rate within a sal-
ary range shall be by succes-
sive steps. The City Manager
may recommend for approval
by the City Council addi-
tional compensation at a
rate higher than the mini-
mum rate in the appropriate
salary schedule, provided,
however, as follows: The
City Manager may authorize
compensation up to and. in-
cluding the third step in the
appropriate salary schedule."
SECTION 2: This ordinance
shall be published at least once
in the Newport Harbor Ensign,
a newspaper of general circula.
tion printed and published and
circulated in the City of Newport
Beach, and the same shall be in
full force and effect thirty days
after the final passage thereof.
The above and foregoing ordi-
nance was introduced at a regu-
lar meeting of the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach
held on the 13th day of August,
1956, and was finally passed and
adopted on the 27th day of Au-
gust, 1956, by the following vote,
to -wit:
AYES, COUNCILMEN: Hart,
Wilder, Stoddard, Ridderhof, Hill.
NOES, COUNCILMEN: None.
ABSENT COUNCILMEN: Mac-
Kay, Higbie.
