ORDINANCE NO. 888
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH
AMENDING SECTION 3238
AND ADDING SECTION 3252.3
TO THE NEWPORT BEACH
MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING
TO TRAFFIC REGULATIONS.
The City Council of the City of
Newport Beach does ordain as
follows:
SECTION 1: Section 3238 of the
Newport Beach Municipal Code
is amended to read:
"SECTION 3238. Authority
to Install Traffic Control De.

city traffic engineer shall

SECTION 2: Section 3252.3 is
added to the Newport Beach Mu-
nicipal Code to read:
. "SECTION 3252.3. Addi-
tional Stop Intersections. (a)
The city traffic engineer is
authorized to establish addi-
tional stop intersections
where he determines that
the amount of traffic and
the direction of travel at the
intersection results in con-
gestion or a hazard to per-
sons or property, and that
the hazard would be re-
duced or traffic flow facili-
tated by designating the in-
tersection as a stop intersec-
tion and requiring vehicles
to stop at one or more en-
trances thereto.
(b) The city traffic engin.
eer shall place and main-
tain stop signs at such en-
trances to such stop inter-
sections as he determines
necessary to reduce the haz-
ard and facilitate traffic
flow."
SECTION 3: This ordinance
shall be published once in the
Newport Harbor Ensign, a news-
paper of general - circulation,
printed and published in the
City of Newport Beach, and the
same shall be effective 30 days
after the date of its adoption.

This ordinance was introduced
at a regular meeting of the City
Council of the City of Newport
Beach held on the 22nd day of
June, 1959, and was adopted on
the 13th day of July, 1959, by the
following vote, to wit:
AYES, COUNCILMEN: Kings-
ley, Atkinson, Stoddard, Lorenz,
Somers.
NOES, COUNCILMEN: Hart.
ABSENT COUNCILMEN: Hig•
bie.
