'! J <br />ORDINANCE NO. 926 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY <br />OF NEWPORT BEACH <br />AMENDING SECTION 4213 <br />AND REPEALING S E C T 10 N <br />4214. OF THE NEWPORT <br />BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE RE- <br />LATING TO HOTEL REGIS- <br />TERS A N D REGISTRATION <br />CARDS <br />The City Council of the City of <br />Newport Beach does ordain as <br />follows: <br />SECTION 1. Section 4213 of the <br />Newport Beach Municipal Code <br />is amended to read: <br />"SECTION 4213. HOTEL <br />REGISTERS; REGISTRATION <br />CARDS. Every person con- <br />ducting any rooming house, <br />lodging house, hotel, inn, <br />motel, auto court, or any <br />other similar place in the <br />City, at all times shall keep <br />and maintain therein a reg- <br />ister or series of registration <br />cards. The name and home <br />street and town address of <br />each and every guest or per- <br />son renting or occupying a <br />room or rooms therein shall <br />be inscribed with ink or in- <br />delible pencil in the register <br />or on a registration card. <br />Such register or registration <br />card shall be signed by the <br />person renting or occupying <br />a room or rooms, and the <br />proprietor or an agent there. <br />of of such rooming house, <br />lodging house, hotel, inn, <br />motel, auto court, or any <br />other similar place thereup- <br />on shall write opposite such <br />name or names so registered <br />the number of each room as- <br />signed to be occupied by <br />each such guest or person, <br />together with the time when <br />such room is rented, and un- <br />til all of the aforesaid en. <br />tries shall be made no guest <br />or person shall be suffered <br />,or permitted to occupy any <br />SUCh room. <br />- When the occupant or oc- <br />cupants of such room so <br />rented shall quit and sur- <br />-render the same, it shall be <br />\N the duty of said proprietor <br />or an agent thereof to enter <br />the time thereof as nearly <br />as can be determined in <br />such register or on such reg- <br />istration card opposite the <br />name of such occupant or <br />occupants. Erasures or al- <br />terations shall not be made <br />for any purpose. Such regis• <br />ter or all such registration <br />cards shall be kept in the <br />office of said person renting <br />rooms aforesaid where the <br />same shall be open to the <br />inspection of any police of- <br />ficer of the City. <br />The register shall be per. <br />maneritly bound so that no <br />sheet may be taken there. <br />from and shall be of the <br />minimum size of 8" x 100. <br />The registration cards shall <br />be numbered consecutively <br />and shall be used in such <br />sequence; the numbers shall <br />be printed or otherwise in- <br />delibly affixed to such cards, <br />and such cards shall be of <br />the minimum size of 21/2" x <br />4 ". <br />SECTION 2. Section 4214 of the <br />Newport Beach Municipal Code <br />is repealed. <br />SECTION 3. This ordinance <br />shall be published once in the <br />official newspaper of the City, <br />and the same shall be effective <br />30 days after the date of its <br />adoption. <br />This ordinance was introduced <br />at an adjourned regular meeting <br />of the City Council of the City <br />of Newport Beach held on the <br />20th day of June, 1960, and was <br />adopted on the 25th day of July, <br />1960, by the following vote, to <br />wit: <br />AYES, COUNCILMEN: Kings. <br />ley, Atkinson, Cook, Hart, <br />Lorenz. <br />NOES, COUNCILMEN: None. <br />A B S E N T COUNCILMEN: <br />Stoddard, Somers. <br />CHARLES E.
