ORDINANCE NO. 953
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH ADD-
ING CERTAIN TERRITORY TO
THE SEVENTH DISTRICT OF
THE CITY AND •REVISING
THE DESCRIPTION OF THE
BOUNDARY LINE OF THE
SI= DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the Charter of the
City of Newport Beach provides
that when any territory is an-
nexed to the City the City Coun-
cil shall by ordinance add the
territory to an adjacent district
or districts; and
WHEREAS, certain territory re-
ferred to as "First Addition to
Harbor View Annex" has been
annexed and is adjacent to and
should be included in the Sev-
enth District; and
WHEREAS, the description of
the boundary line of the Sixth
District as set out in Ordinance
No. 906 should be revised to
make it more certain;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City
Council of the City of Newport
Beach does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. The description of
the boundary line of the Sixth
District designated in Section
1011 of the Charter of the City
of Newport Beach, as set out in
Ordinance No. 906, is hereby re-
vised to read as follows, and
said district shall include all
that portion of the City included
within the following described
boundary line, to wit:
Beginning at the intersec-
tion of the Ordinary High
Tide Line of the Pacific
Ocean and the southwesterly
prolongation of the center
line of Poppy Avenue; thence
northeasterly along s a 1 d
southwesterly prolongation to
an intersection with the cen-
ter line of Ocean Boulevard;
thence westerly along said
center line of Ocean Boule.

Marguerite Avenue to an

thence northwesterly along

ty, California; thence north-
easterly on a direct line to
the most southerly corner of
that certain territory an.
nexed to the City of Newport
Beach by the "First Addition
to Harbor View Annex ", said
comer being in the bound-
ary line of the City of New-
port Beach; thence generally
easterly and southerly along
said City boundary line to
its intersection with the
northerly line of the State
Highway ORA -60 -13; thence
westerly along said north-
erly line and •along said
City boundary line to an
angle point in said City
boundary line, said angle
point being the southeast
corner of Tract No. 1237, as
shown upon a map recorded
40, pages 19 and 20, records
of Orange County, Califor-
nia; thence southerly along
said City boundary line to
an angle point in said City
boundary line, said angle
point being the most north-
erly corner of Tract No. 3357,
as shown upon a map
recorded in Miscellaneous
Maps Book 107, pages 1 to
7, Inclusive, records of
Orange County, California,
and also lying in the south-
erly line of State Highway
ORA -60 -B; thence easterly
along said southerly line
and along said City bound-
ary line to an angle point
in said City boundary line,
said angle point lying in the
southeasterly line of Block
95, of Irvine's Subdivision;
thence southwesterly along
said southeasterly line of
Block 95 to an intersection
with the Ordinary High Tide
Line of the Pacific Ocean;
thence northwesterly along
said Ordinary High Tide
Line to the point of begin-
ning.
SECTION 2. The territory re-
ferred to as the "First Addition
to Harbor View Annex" is here-
by added to the Seventh District,
and said Seventh District desig-
nated in Section 1012 of the
Charter of the City of Newport
Beach shall include all that
portion of the City included
within the following described
boundary line, to wit:

Beginning at an intersec-
tion of the northerly line of
the State Highway ORA -60 -B,
being 100 feet in width, and
the northeasterly prolonga-
tion of the southeasterly line
of Tract 'No. 1701 as shown
upon a map recorded in Mis-
cellaneous Maps, Book 52,
pages 9 and 10; thence
southwesterly along said
northeasterly prolongation
and along the southeasterly
line of said Tract No. 1701
to an intersection with the
center line of Seadrift Drive
as shown upon a map of Tract
No. 2813, recorded in Mis.
cellaneous Maps, Book 94,
pages 45, 46 and 47, records

southwesterly prolongation
of Avocado Avenue and a
line lying easterly of, par-
allel to, and distant 350 feet
from the U. S. Bulkhead
Line between U. S. Bulk-
head Stations Nos. 108 and
107; thence southeasterly
along said last mentioned
parallel line to an intersec-
tion with the southwesterly
prolongation of the north-
westerly line of Iris Avenue;
thence easterly in a straight
line to an intersection with
the Ordinary High Tide Line
of the Pacific Ocean at the
East Jetty; thence easterly
along said Ordinary High
Tide Line to an intersection
with the southwesterly pro-
longation of the center line
of Poppy Avenue; thence
northeasterly along said
southwesterly prolongation
to an intersection with the

The basis of bearings used
in the above description is
the said easterly line of the
Metropolitan Water District
right -of -way which bears N.
50" 25' 59" E., said right -of-
way line being recorded as
bearing N. 49° 41' 10" E. as
used by the metropolitan
Water District of Southern
California.
SECTION 3. This ordinance
shall be published once in the
official newspaper of the City,
and the same shall be effective
30 days after the date of its
adoption.
This ordinance was intro.
duced at an adjourned regular
meeting of the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach held
on the 6th day of March, 1961,
and was adopted on the 13th day
of March, 1961, by the following
vote, to wit:
