SECTION 1. Section 3290 is added to the Newport Beach 'Municipal Code to read: "SECTION 3290. Parking Meter Zones. The following parking meter zones are hereby established: Zone 1 Northeasterly side of McFadden Place between Balboa Boulevard and Court Street Zone 2 Main Street between Bay Avenue and Balboa -- Boulevard Balboa Boulevard between "A" Street and Adams Street Bay Avenue between Main Street and Palm Street Newport Boulevard between 21st Street and 30th Street Southwesterly side. of McFadden Place between 22nd Street and Ocean Front Easterly side of McFadden Piave between Ocean Front and Court Street - - Southerly end of McFadden Place at the approach to the Newport Pier Court Street between 20th Street and McFadden Place Twenty -third Street between Ocean Front and Balboa Boulevard - Twenty- sb&nd" Street betvVeW Oaegn. SECTION 2. Section 3290.1 is added to the Newport Beach Municipal Code to read: "SECTION 32901. Off - street Parking Meter Zones. The City Council may by resolution establish off - street parking meter zones, including therein such land owned, leased, or controlled by the City as traffic and parking con- ditions require. Such resolution shall also establish the fees for parking in such off- street parking meter zones." SECTION 3. Section 3291 is added to the Newport Beach Municipal Code to read: "SECTION 3291. Parking Meter Fees. The fees for parking at parking meters in zones established by Section 3290 when the parking meters are in operation are hereby established at one cent for each 6 minutes or ten cents per hour in zone 6 and one cent for each 12 minutes or five i cents per hour in all other zones." SECTION 4. Section 3291.1 of the Newport Beach Munici- pal Code, is repealed. SECTION 5. A new Section 3291.1 is added to the Newport ;Beach Municipal Code to read: . "SECTION 3291.1. Suspension of Parking Meter Operation. When the City Council determines that the year - around operation of some or all of the parking meters in the parking meter zones established pursuant to this Article is not-necessary for the regulation of traffic and parking, it may by resolution designate such meters and suspend the operation thereof for periods of time specified in such resolution." SECTION 6. Section 3291.4 of the Newport Beach Munici- pal Code is amended to read: "SECTION 3291.4. Parking Meter Operation. The de- nomination of the coin or coins to be deposited in parking meters, the parking time allowed following deposit of such coins, the hours during which such deposits are required, and the days of the week and the weeks of the year during which such deposits are required for parking meters in all' zones, shall be prescribed by the City Council by resolu- tion." SECTION 7. Section 3291.41 is added to the Newport Beach Municipal Code to read: "SECTION 3291.41. Parking Meter Operation Direc- tions. Directions shall. be placed on each parking meter indicating the coin. slot, and how the meter is activated, and on each parking meter or on signs visibly displayed in the .vicinity of the meter showing the coins that may be deposited, the time the meter will measure after such deposit,. and the hours of the day deposits axe required." SECTION S. This ordinance shalt be published once in the official newspaper of the City, and the same shall be effective' 30 days after the date of its adoption. This ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of the (City Council of the City of Newport Beach held on the 23rd day of April, 1962, and was adopted on the 28th day of May, 1962, by the following vote, to wit: AYES, Councilman: Stoddard, Gruber, Cook, Hart, Lorenz, Marshall, Elder NOES, Councilmen: None ABSENT Councilmen: None Margery Schrouder, City Clerk CHARLES E.
