HomeMy WebLinkAbout1157 - Balboa One-Way Streets & AlleysL � THSsaem 3/25/66 ORDINANCE N0. 1157 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AMENDING SECTION 3250.4 OF THE NEWPORT BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO BALBOA ONE -WAY STREETS AND ALLEYS • The City Council of the City of Newport Beach does ordain as follows: SECTION 1. Section 3250.4 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code is amended to reads "SECTION 3250.4. Balboa One -way Streets and Alleys. Main Street from Balboa Blvd. to the most northerly point of Main Street. North bound traffic only.. Bay Ave. from Main Street to 'A' Street. East bound traffic only. 'A' Street from Bay Ave. to Balboa Blvd. South bound traffic only. Bay,Ave. from Main Street to Eighth Street. Westerly bound traffic only. Miramar Drive from the Southerly line of Balboa Blvd. to the Westerly line of Channel Road. Easterly bound traffic only. The alley lying between Balboa Blvd. on the North and Miramar Drive on the South, from the westerly boundary of 'I' Street to the northerly line of Miramar Drive. East- erly bound traffic only." SECTION 2. Emergency Ordinance Effective Immediately. This ordinance is declared by the City Council to be necessary as an emergency measure for preserving the public peace, health, and safety and shall take effect and be in force upon its adoption. The reasons for the urgency of this ordinance are: During the Easter Vacation period an unusually high volume of vehicle and pedestrian traffic will occur' in the Balboa Peninsula area of the City due to the influx of transient visitors. In order to effec- tively control this traffic the Chief of Police has requested that various regulations be established on a temporary basis including the signing of Washington Street between Ocean Front and Balboa Boulevard as a one -way street for south bound traffic. In order to accomplish this change it is necessary that the existing regu- lation which designates Washington Street from Ocean Front to Balboa Boulevard as a one• -way street for north bound traffic as provided in Section 3250._4 of the Municipal Code be repealed. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be published once in the official newspaper of the City, • This ordinance was introduced and adopted as an emergency ordinance at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Newport Beach held on the 28th day of March, 1966, by the following vote, to wit; • I 0 AYES, COUNCILMEN: Parsons, Marshall.
