HomeMy WebLinkAbout1206 - Water Rates and ChargesTHS:aem 2/9/67 • t ORDINANCE NO. 1206 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AMENDING �T SECTIONS 14.12.040, 14.12.150, 14.12.170, 14.12.190, AND 14.12.200 OF THE NEWPORT BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO WATER RATES AND CHARGES The City Council of the City of Newport Beach does ordain as follows: SECTION 1. Section 14.12.040 of the Newport Beach Munic- ipal Code is amended to read: "14.12.040 Readiness to Serve Charges. There shall be charge andcoRecte a bimonthly readiness to serve charge from each customer for each meter on the basis of the follow- ing schedule: For 3/4 -inch meter or less ........................$ 3.50 For 1 -inch meter ... ............................... 4.50 For 1 1/2 -inch meter .............................. 7.00 For 2 -inch meter ... ............................... 9.50 For 2 1/2 -inch meter 12.00 For 3 -inch meter ... ............................... 14.00 For 4 -inch meter ... ............................... 19.00 For 6 -inch meter ... ............................... 28.00 For 8 -inch meter ... ............................... 37.50 For 10 -inch meter .. ............................... 47.50 For 12 -inch meter .. ............................... 57.50 Readiness to serve charges shall not be subject to refund or proration if service to any customer is terminated during any bimonthly period. For any size meter not above described, the readiness to serve charge may be established from time to time by resolution of the City Council." SECTION 2. Section 14.12.150 of the Newport Beach Munic- ipal Code is amended to read: "14.12.150 Turn-on Charges. When water service to any premises has bein-turned-off Uecause of nonpayment of a bill or violation of any of the provisions of this chapter, or ordered turned off by the owner or tenant, a turn-on charge in the amount of Ten Dollars ($10) shall be collected in advance." SECTION 3. Section 14.12.170 of the Newport Beach Munic- ipal Code is amended to read: -1114.12.170 Due Date. All water users shall be billed bimont y}and all-charges for water shall be payable fifteen days from the meter reading date shown on the bills." SECTION 4. Section 14.12.190 of the Newport Beach Munic- ipal Code is amended to read: "14.12.190 Turn-off Procedure. After the passage of thirty Ays from the bimontHly meter reading dates shown on 0 • - . the bills, a list shall be prepared setting forth the loca- tion of the premises and the names of the owners or tenants to whom service is being furnished where charges have become and remain delinquent, together with the amount of the un- paid charges. On the next business day water shall be turned off from such premises and shall not be turned on again until all unpaid charges, together with the turn -on charge speci- fied in this chapter, shall have been paid." SECTION 5. Section 14.12.200 of the Newport Beach Munic- ipal Code is amended to read: "14.12.200 Tenant De wit. In the event that the appli- cant or water service sha not be the owner in fee of the property to be supplied with water, or does not own the im- provements thereon, a deposit shall be required equivalent to one and one -half times the average bimonthly billing for the user classification applicable to the property, as determined by the Finance Director. When the deposit has been made and all other conditions of serving water have been met, water shall be supplied." SECTION 6. This ordinance shall be published once in the official newspaper of the City, and the same shall be effective 30 days after the date of its adoption. This ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Newport Beach held on the 14th day of February , 1967, and was adopted on the 27th day of Februar 1967, by the following vote, to wit: AYES, COUNCILMEN: Rogers, Parsons, Gruber, Cook, Forgit, Shelton, Marshall NOES, COUNCILMEN: ABSENT COUNCILMEN: ATTEST: �Q City Ulerf j 2 Mayor 2. 1 None None
