ORDINANCE NO. 1247
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH ADDING
SECTION 11.16.145 TO THE NEWPORT BEACH MUNICIPAL
CODE RELATING TO WAIVER OF THE SURFBOARD LICENSE
• REQUIREMENT FOR SPECIAL EVENTS
The City Council of the City of Newport Beach does
ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 11.16.145 is added to the Newport
Beach Municipal Code to read:
"11.16.145 Waiver of License for Special Events.
The City Manager may in his discretion approve temporary
blanket waivers of the surfboard license requirement for
persons participating in organized surfing contests or
exhibitions. All applications for such waivers shall be
made to the City Manager in writing by an authorized
representative of the organization or group requesting
said waivers. The City Manager may impose such condi-
tions as he may deem desirable in approving applications
for waivers."
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be published once in
the official newspaper of the City, and the same shall be effec-
tive 30 days after the date of its adoption.
This ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of
the City Council of the City of Newport Beach held on the 8th
day of April , 1968, and was adopted on the 22nd day
of April , 1968, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES, COUNCILMEN: McInnis, Shelton, Marshall,
Rogers, Hirth, Gruber
NOES, COUNCILMEN: None
ABSENT OILMEN: Parsons
