AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH
ADDING SECTION 10.48.035 TO TITLE 10 OF THE
NEWPORT BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE TO AUTHORIZE
THE ABATEMENT OF WEEDS ON SPECIFIED PARCELS
OF PROPERTY AS SEASONAL AND RECURRENT NUISANCES
The City Council of the City of Newport Beach does
ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 10.48.035 is added to the Newport
Beach Municipal Code to read:
"10.48.035 Weeds on Specified Parcels of Property
as Seasonal and Recurrent Nuisances. At the time it
adopts the resolution described in Section 10.48.030, the
City Council may also find and declare in said resolution
that weeds on specified parcels of property are seasonal
and recurrent nuisances. Such seasonal and recurrent
nuisances''shall be abated in accordance with the pro-
visions of this Chapter, provided, that upon the second
and any subsequent occurrence of such nuisance on the same
parcel or parcels within the same calendar year, no further
hearings need be held, and it shall be sufficient to mail
a postcard notice to the owners of the property as they
and their addresses appear upon the current assessment
roll.
The notice shall refer to and describe the property
and shall state that noxious or dangerous weeds of a
seasonal and recurrent nature are growing on or in
front of the property, and that the same constitute a
public nuisance which must be abated by the removal of
said noxious or dangerous weeds, and that otherwise they
will be removed and the nuisance will be abated by the
city authorities, in which case the cost of such removal
• shall be assessed upon the parcel and lands from which
or in front of which such weeds are removed and that
upon confirmation such cost will constitute a lien upon
such parcel or lands until paid."
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be published once
in the official newspaper of the City, and the same shall be
effective thirty (30) days after the date of its adoption.
This ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of
the City Council of the City of Newport Beach held on the 28th
day of April , 1969, and was adopted on the 12th
day of May 1969, by the following vote, to wit:

Parsons, Marshall, Rogers, Hirth, Gruber
NOES, COUNCILMEN: None
ABSENT COUNCILMEN: None
