ORDINANCE NO. 2 3 9 5
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH
ADDING SECTION 10.08.030 TO TITLE 10 OF THE
NEWPORT BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO
USE OF SIDEWALKS FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES
The City Council of the City of Newport Beach does ordain
as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 10,08.030 is added to the Newport
Beach Municipal Code to reads
"10.08.030 Use of Sidewalks for Commercial Purposes.
No person shall use any public street, sidewalk, alley, parkway
for the purpose of storing or displaying any equipment,
materials or merchandise, or for the purpose of erecting or
maintaining any sign, with the exception of materials used in
connection with construction projects as permitted by the
Uniform Building Code. This Section shall not prohibit the use
of sidewalks for the purpose of maintaining newspaper racks,
provided that said racks do not interfere with.the use of
sidewalks for pedestrian traffic by the general public and by
abutting property owners, or interfere with access to the
sidewalk from parked vehicles."
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be published once in the

official newspaper of the City, and the same shall.be effective

30 days after the date of its adoption.
This ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of the
City Council of the City of Newport Beach held on the 13th day of
April , 1970, and was adopted on the Z7th day of
April , 19702 by the following vote, to wits
