AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH
AMENDING SECTION 7.04.030 RELATING TO
PROHIBITING DOGS OR ANY OTHER ANIMALS IN
PARKS AND ON ALL PUBLIC BEACHES
The City Council of the City of Newport Beach does
ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 7.04.030 of the Newport Beach
Municipal Code is amended to read:
"7.04.030 Prohibited on Public Beaches and
Children's Playgrounds. No person having the care,
charge or control of any dog or pet or domesticated
or wild animal, or reptile, shall permit or allow any
such dog or other animal to be, under any circumstances
or conditions, on or upon any public beach or ocean
front sidewalk during the period beginning June 15 and
ending September 15 of each calendar year, or at any
istime upon public parks which are used primarily as
children's playgrounds, in the City of Newport Beach.
The prohibitions contained in this Section shall not
be applicable to dogs while they are enrolled and
participating in obedience classes sponsored by the
Recreation Department of the City, or in City- authorized
dog shows, or to any guide dog while being used by a
blind person."
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be published once
in the official newspaper of the City, and the same shall be
effective 30 days after the date of its adoption.
This ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting
• of the City Council of the City of Newport Beach held on the

17th day of May , 1971, and was adopted on the
24th day of May 1971, by the following vote,
to wit:
