ORDINANCE NO. T 4 9 5 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH <br />AMENDING SECTIONS 12..56.140 AND 12.56.150 OF <br />THE NEWPORT BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE, AND ADDING <br />SECTIONS 12.56.160, 12.56.170 AND 12.56.180 <br />TO THE NEWPORT BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE, PERTAINING <br />TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF BICYCLE LANES <br />The City Council of the City of Newport Beach does ordain <br />as follows: <br />SECTION 1. Section 12.56.140 of the Newport Beach <br />Municipal Code is amended to read: <br />"12.56.140 Operating Bicycle on Sidewalk. No person <br />shall operate or ride a bicycle, surrey cycle, pedicab, or <br />other wheeled device or conveyance used for transportation and <br />propelled by human power, upon any sidewalk in the City, <br />except that bicycles may be ridden on the south one -half of <br />the sidewalk located on Ocean Front between F Street and <br />McFadden Place and between the westerly line of the Ocean Front <br />Parking Lot and 36th.Street; and on the sidewalks located on the <br />westerly side of Jamboree Road from Eastbluff Drive (Ford Road) <br />to Bayside Drive, the westerly side of Dover Drive from Cliff <br />Drive to 495 feet northerly of the center line of Coast Highway, <br />the westerly side of Eastbluff Drive from the northerly Corona <br />del Mar High School driveway to Jamboree Road, and the southerly <br />side of Cliff Drive from Kings Place to Dover Drive. The fore- <br />going prohibition shall not apply to children's or invalids' <br />tricycles, wheelchairs or skateboards." <br />SECTION 2. Section 12.56.150 of the Newport Beach <br />Municipal Code is amended to read: <br />"12.56.150 Riding Regulations. The rider of a bicycle <br />upon a roadway shall ride as nearly as practicable within <br />five feet of the righthand curb or edge of the roadway, except: <br />1.
