ORDINANCE NO, q 4 4 ?, <br />AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT <br />_ BEACH EXTENDING THE INTERIM ZONING REGULATIONS <br />ESTABLISHING A USE PERMIT REQUIREMENT FOR <br />CERTAIN USES WITHIN THE M -1 DISTRICT <br />WHEREAS, on the 28th day of February, 1972, the City <br />Council of the City of Newport Beach adopted Ordinance No. 1430 <br />providing for interim zoning regulations establishing a use permit <br />requirement for certain uses within the M -1 District; and <br />WHEREAS, said Ordinance No. 1430 was adopted pursuant <br />to the authority of Section 65858 of the California Government Code, <br />which authorizes the adoption of interim zoning ordinances as <br />emergency measures prohibiting uses which may conflict with a <br />zoning proposal which the legislative body is considering and <br />pursuant to the authority of Section 412 of the City Charter which <br />authorizes the Council to adopt emergency measures; and <br />date of its adoption, which effective period terminates on May 28, <br />1972.- and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has introduced Ordinance No. 1441 <br />relating to the establishment of a use permit requirement for <br />certain non - manufacturing uses within the M -1 District; and <br />WHEREAS, said Ordinance No. 1441 is set for public hearing <br />on.May 22, 1972, and if adopted would not become effective until <br />30 days after the date of its adoption; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it would be <br />in the best interest of the citizens of Newport Beach to extend the <br />interim zoning regulations establishing a use permit requirement <br />for certain uses within the M -1 District, in order to allow time for <br />�.
