0 <br />ORDINANCE NO. 14 5 2 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH <br />AMENDING SECTION 12.56.140 OF THE NEWPORT <br />BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE TO PERMIT THE RIDING <br />OF BICYCLES ON CERTAIN SIDEWALKS IN <br />CONNECTION WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OF BICYCLE <br />TRAILS <br />The City Council of the City of Newport Beach DOES ORDAIN <br />as follows: <br />SECTION 1. Section 12.56.140 of the Newport Beach <br />Municipal Code is amended to read: <br />"12.56.140 Operating Bicycle on Sidewalk. No person <br />shall operate or ride a bicycle, surrey cycle, pedicab, or <br />other wheeled device or conveyance used for transportation and <br />propelled by human power, upon any sidewalk in the City, <br />except that bicycles may be ridden on the sidewalks located <br />as follows: <br />South one -half of sidewalk on Ocean Front between F Street <br />and McFadden Place and between the westerly line of <br />the Ocean Front Parking Lot and 36th Street; <br />Jamboree Road, westerly side, from Eastbluff Drive (Ford <br />Road) to Bayside Drive; <br />Dover Drive, westerly side, from Cliff Drive to 495 feet <br />northerly of the center line of Coast Highway; <br />Eastbluff Drive, westerly side, from the northerly Corona <br />del Mar High School driveway to Jamboree Road; <br />Cliff Drive, southerly side, from Kings Place to Dover <br />Drive; <br />Ford Road, southerly side, between Jamboree Road and a <br />point 900 feet east of Newport Hills Drive West; <br />MacArthur Boulevard, westerly side, between Port Sutton <br />Drive and Pacific View Drive; <br />Pacific View Drive, southerly side, between MacArthur <br />Boulevard and a point 1200 feet west of Marguerite <br />Anue; <br />Irvine Avenue, east side, between Santiago Drive and <br />University Drive. <br />The foregoing prohibition shall not apply to children's <br />or invalids' tricycles, wheelchairs or skateboards." <br />SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be published once in the <br />0 official newspaper of the City, and the same shall be effective <br />30 days after the date of its adoption. <br />-1- <br />
